Introduction.
I run a BBS since 1992 and wrote several BBS software packages since then. The most important package is MBSE BBS, which is one of the first Fidonet compatible BBS programs that runs on Linux and other Unix systems. In the early days a lot of hardware was needed to run a multi-line BBS, at it made a lot of noise too. For that reason the BBS wasn’t in my home but in a workshop. Today the BBS runs without modems, only Internet connected and as a virtual machine on my home server (at home). And for this people using old browsers, the links to the projects:
- MBSE BBS for *nix systems.
- Doorlib, the door library for *nix systems.
- Safe Cracker Door, a small demonstartion door.
- Nodelist tools, some tools to check nodelists.
Telnet to my BBS.
From this page you can use a java applet to connect to the MBSE BBS support bbs using a terminal screen. What you will see is the same as if you would use your own terminal program to telnet to this bbs. This looks the same as using a modem over a telephone line which was normal at the end of the previous century. The only thing that doesn’t work is download. Click on Load the applet below and when the button appears, use it to open the Telnet Window and connect to the bbs.
