After all recent troubles with sourceforge's cvs servers I switches to a
local server (not available online). Last thing that happened was that the
whole repository was gone and the nightly backup they made was 14 days old.
There is still a
nightly cvs tarball
available, but on another location. So update your scripts if you use these
to stay tuned.

New web location, the webpages for doorlib,
safe door and
nextuser door are
moved to their own locations. The project itself is still hosted at
SoureForge.
This site here will now contain more recent material because updating is now more or less automatic.
01-Mar-2003
The internal safe and nextuser doors are removed from the bbs code and are distributed as universal
Unix doors. The following packages are released:
- Doorlib, this is a shared library needed for all my doors.
- NU-Door, this is the message to Next User door.
- Safe-Door, this is the Safecracker doorgame.
26-Dec-2002
Version 0.36.00 is released, this is in fact the release of the last unstable version 0.35.07.
For a detailed list of changes see the ChangeLog inside the distribution archive.
02-Nov-2002
New release and support policy. Support for the MBSE BBS package is now available on Fidonet's
worldwide backbones. The international echomail area has the tag MBSE and the files distribution
tagname is MBSE_BBS using the IFDC FileGate Project.
MBSE BBS users are encouraged to connect to both areas.
Since the MBSE BBS is a Fidonet product and users usually have access to Fidonet the support
via SourceForge will be limited from now on.
The odd version numbers are not released anymore here at SourceForge, they are only available
via CVS and distributed in the MBSE_BBS file echo. Most mailinglists at SourceForge will be closed.
04-Jun-2002
Version 0.33.21 is released, this is in fact the same version as 0.33.20 which isn't
released because there are too many different cvs version running.
This version adds support for vpopmail. Also new is the turbodiesel macro language
which is used to write custom templates that can be used for newfile reports, areamgr reports
etc. Another important new feature is auto message and file areas create based on
taglists. For filenetworks raid formatted lists are supported (filegate.zxx) and plain
taglists.
The mbtask daemon has now good support for dialup systems who use internet connections
including traffic control. The check if the internet connection is available has been improved.
The binkp protocol now supports the GET command frame.
10-Feb-2002
Version 0.33.19 is released. Long filenames are now really supported, but there
is no support for filenames with spaces in them.
The mbsebbs program doesn't run setuid anymore but as the real users uid.
Therefore a separate mbnewusr program is added that does the new user
registration.
Also a login wrapper is now available, mblogin that is a replacement for the standard login program.
This works for modem calls and telnet calls. Unknown users are passed to the
mbnewusr program, known users start mbsebbs.
The mbtask daemon now handles all the calling to other nodes.
Depending on what you allow, it will call several systems at the same time.
Harald Wuensch wrote the German language file.
02-Nov-2001
Version 0.33.18 is released. This is the first version where a team of five
developers has been working on. From now on there is a FAQ included with the
distribution. This version is also ported to FreeBSD, but this still needs a
lot of testing. It isn't tested with modems or ISDN lines, only over internet.
The Fido/Internet gate has been rewritten to make it more structured. For newbees
mbsetup now initialises all the databases during first system install.
I hope this will solve a lot of problems for first time mbse users.
The bbs now has the option to generate menu display lines from the menu setup, you
can now build menus without fancy ansi screens (just like in RA). There is now also
an option to run doors in no suid mode, this gives better support for doors under
dosemu. The needed documentation is not yet available, but as soon as it you can find it here.
The Fullscreen editor also has had a lot of improvements, but it's still not bugfree, yes
this is also work in progress.
16-Oct-2001
MBSE BBS is now also available via CVS. See the download
page for instructions how to use this feature.
25-Jul-2001
Version 0.33.17 is released. With this version a lot of bugs
are solved and Italian and Spanish translations are added. The daemon mbsed
is obsolete now and removed from the distribution. The mbtask daemon has
taken over all the functions of mbsed. The client/server communication
protocol is changed from TCP stream sockets to Unix Datagram sockets. This means
that all programs must run on the same computer. Some code to let mbtask
act as a command scheduler is already added, more will be added later. Another
major change is that the JAM message base locking is now according to the JAM
specs.
21-May-2001
It has been a long time since version 0.33.15, but version 0.33.16 is available
now. Internet email and support was built in since version 0.33.15 and this
version adds a news gateway. It now also has a second daemon called
mbtask which has taken over a lot of crontab commands and scripts. This
new daemon will grow to be the only daemon and command scheduler for MBSE BBS.
It is also possible to make the bbs available for
www of ftp users, but this is not really supported yet. A few html files
to access the file areas are already automatic created. There are plans
to make this all available in the bbs package itself.
